Filta-Max xpress

Food & BeverageWater

Filta-Max xpress is a filter-processing system for the capture and recovery of Cryptosporidium and Giardia. Principle: Filta-Max xpress is a rapid, efficient technology for the capture and recovery of Cryptosporidium and Giardia. The filter module has been optimized to capture target organisms from a wide range of raw water matrices. Using air pressure to force a specifically developed elution buffer through the filter, the elution procedure has been developed to rapidly and simply elute target organisms at the push of a button. The action of the buffer, coupled with the unique architecture of the foam filter, results in a highly effective process.  A sample can be run in less than two minutes. Approvals:  ISO 15553:2006 Water Quality – Isolation and identification of Cryptosporidium oocysts and Giardia cysts from water.  UK Standing Committee of Analysis (SCA) Blue Book: The Microbiology of Drinking Water (2010) – Part 14 – Methods for the isolation, identification and enumeration of Cryptosporidium oocysts and Giardia cysts. Colilert-18®

Food & BeveragePharmaceuticalWater

Colilert-18 is a liquid culture method that simultaneously detects both total coliforms and Escherichia coli in water, giving confirmed results in 18 hours. Principle: The Colilert-18 test uses proprietary Defined Substrate Technology (DST) nutrient indicators ONPG and MUG to detect coliforms and E. coli. Coliforms use their β-galactosidase enzyme to metabolise ONPG and change it from colourless to yellow. E. coli use β-glucuronidase to metabolise MUG and create fluorescence. Since most non-coliforms do not have these enzymes, they are unable to grow and interfere. The few non-coliforms that do have these enzymes are selectively suppressed by the Colilert-18 test’s specifically formulated matrix. Approvals: U.S. EPA Approval: Colilert-18/Quanti-Tray has US EPA Approval for detection of coliforms and E.coli in Drinking Water, Surface Water Ground Water and Waste Water. ISO 9308-2:2012: Colilert-18 is the ISO 9308-2 standard for Water Quality - Enumeration of Escherichia coli and coliform bacteria - Part 2: Most probable number method. Colilert-18, (ISO 9308-2) is a reference method in the European Drinking Water Directive 2015/1787 AFNOR NF Validation (IDX 33/01-11/09) - Colilert-18/Quanti-Tray is validated for the enumeration of β-glucuronidase positive Escherichia coli and β-galactosidase positive coliform bacteria in drinking waters for human consumption. SCA Blue Book: Colilert-18 is specified in Microbiology of Drinking Water (MoDW) Part 4: Methods for the Isolation and enumeration of coliform bacteria and Escherichia coli (including E.coli O157 H7) (2016) - Colilert®-18 (Method D). Water SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR Test

Water

The Water SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR Test is a real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) test that detects and quantifies viral RNA in an appropriately prepared wastewater concentrate sample. When used with the 105 ml concentration protocol, the lowest concentration of SARS-CoV-2 in wastewater that can be detected by the Water SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR Test is approximately 1 gene copy/1 ml.

Enterolert®-DW

Water

Enterolert-DW is a liquid culture method that enumerates enterococci in drinking water and bathing water at 1 / 100 mL and 10 / 100 mL MPN respectively in the presence of heterotrophic bacteria in numbers as high as 1,000,000 MPN per 100 mL sample, providing confirmed results within 24 hours. Principle: The Enterolert®-DW Test uses a Defined Substrate Technology (DST) nutrient indicator to enumerate enterococci. When coupled with the IDEXX Quanti-Tray® System, the Enterolert-DW Test provides quantitative confirmed results in 24 hours. The Enterolert-DW Test utilises ortho-nitrophenyl-β-D-glucoside as a nutrient indicator and incorporates a specifically designed blue background colour in its formulation. When the enzyme substrate is metabolised by enterococci, the sample turns from blue to green to indicate detection. Any change from the original colour to green is considered a positive result. No ultraviolet light source is required. Approvals: AFNOR NF Validation (IDX 33/03-10/13) – Enterolert-DW/Quanti-Tray is validated for the enumeration of intestinal enterococci bacteria in drinking waters for human consumption (except bottled waters) and bathing waters (fresh bathing waters and marine bathing waters). SCA Blue Book: Enterolert-DW is specified in the Methods for the Examination of Waters and Associated Materials (Blue Book) complied by the UK Standing Committee of Analysts. Ref: Microbiology of Drinking Water (MoDW) Part 5: Methods for the isolation and enumeration of enterococci (2012) – Enterolert-DW (Method B). Legiolert®

Water

Legiolert is a liquid culture method that detects Legionella pneumophila (the primary cause of Legionnaires’ disease) in water samples, giving confirmed results within 7 days. Principle: The Legiolert test detects Legionella pneumophila in potable and non-potable water samples. The Legiolert test is based on a bacterial enzyme detection technology that signals the presence of L. pneumophila through utilisation of the Legiolert reagent. L. pneumophila cells grow rapidly and reproduce using the rich supply of amino acids, vitamins and other nutrients present in the Legiolert reagent. Actively growing strains of L. pneumophila produce a brown colour indicator. The Legiolert test detects Legionella pneumophila at 1 organism in 100 mL within 7 days. SCA Blue Book: Legiolert is specified in the Methods for the Examination of Waters and Associated Materials (Blue Book) complied by the UK Standing Committee of Analysts. Ref: The Determination of Legionella bacteria in waters and other environmental samples (2020) Legiolert (Part B). A more exhaustive list of approvals is available on request

Pseudalert®

Water

Pseudalert is a liquid culture method that detects the presence of Pseudomonas aeruginosa in water samples in 24 hours with no additional confirmation steps. Principle: Pseudalert is based on a bacterial enzyme detection technology that signals the presence of Pseudomonas aeruginosa through the hydrolysis of a substrate in the Pseudalert reagent. Pseudomonas aeruginosa cells rapidly grow and reproduce using the rich supply of amino acids, vitamins, and other nutrients present in the Pseudalert reagent. Actively growing strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa have an enzyme that cleaves the substrate in the reagent to produce blue fluorescence under ultraviolet light. Pseudalert detects Pseudomonas aeruginosa at 1 colony-forming unit per 100 mL water sample within 24 hours. Approvals: ISO 16266-2: International Organization for Standards (ISO). ISO 16266-2:2018, Water Quality – Detection and enumeration of Pseudomonas aeruginosa – Part 2: Most probable number method. AFNOR NF Validation (IDX 33/05-03/16) – Pseudalert/Quanti-Tray is validated for the enumeration of Pseudomonas aeruginosa in pool waters and waters for human consumption (water from wells, springs and boreholes; bottled water; tap water and drinking fountain water). SCA Blue Book: Pseudalert is specified in the Microbiology of Drinking Water (MoDW) Part 8: Methods for the isolation and enumeration of Aeromonas and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (2015) - Pseudalert ® (Method C). Also, UK Standing Committee of Analysts (SCA) Blue Book: The Microbiology of Recreational and Environmental Waters (2015) – Part7 - Methods for the isolation and enumeration of Aeromonas and Pseudomonas aeruginosa A more exhaustive list of approvals is available on request

IDEXX Tecta®

Water

The IDEXX Tecta® system is a complete, self-contained water testing system, providing rapid evidence of bacterial contamination, either within or outside of a traditional laboratory setting. It is a rapid automated water microbiology testing instrument for detection of coliforms, E. coli, faecal coliforms and Enterococci. Principle: Detection of bacterial contamination is based on the same principle as other IDEXX rapid water testing methods: the reagent within the cartridge contains a nutrient indicator which gives a signal once exposed to enzymes found in the target bacteria. The enzyme substrates in the Tectalert cartridges are hydrophilic in their native form, but when the nutrient indicator is broken down by the enzymes found in the target organism, sugars are formed alongside a hydrophobic fluorophore molecule, which migrates to the polymer partition element at the base of the cartridge, and it is this fluorescence that is detected by the instrument.

EasyDisc™

Water

EasyDisc™ provides faster, easier quantification of heterotrophic bacteria in water. Principle: EasyDisc offers an easy solution for HPC testing with no agar preparation needed, requiring less than one minute of hands-on time to process a sample. Positive results appear as blue colonies, removing any ambiguity of results, and colony counting is made easier by the integrated gridlines in the EasyDisc plate. With an 18-month shelf life, EasyDisc reduces the need for repetitive quality control checks. Approvals: France (2022) EasyDisc YEA has been granted NF Validation Certification by AFNOR under the reference No 33/09 – 03/22 for the enumeration of cultural micro-organisms in water for human consumption (drinking water). Belgium (2020) – 5GN-v2 – Acceptance of EasyDisc YEA, Colilert-18, Enterolert-DW, and Pseudalert for Food Chain Water
