IDEXX, the global leader in rapid microbiology testing for water, has launched EasyDisc™ DEV, a new test for the detection of heterotrophic plate counts (HPC) in water.

The EasyDisc platform, which was introduced by IDEXX in 2021 for HPC testing, requires no agar preparation, and less than 30 seconds of hands-on time to process a sample. The new DEV formulation is designed to correlate with TrinkwV, §15(1c)*, and extends the EasyDisc product range to cover all global HPC testing needs: PCA and YEA, which correlate with the pour plate method using plate count agar and yeast extract agar respectively, for the testing of drinking and source water; and R2A that correlates with the pour plate method using Reasoner’s 2 agar for the testing of medical and/or pharmaceutical waters.

EasyDisc offers clear results and improved workflow, a 12-month shelf life, and with media preparation eliminated, reduces the need for repetitive quality control checks, ensuring that tests are ready when needed.
