INTERSCIENCE Invests $6.8M in its Factory and R&D Site in Puycapel, France

“By investing to extend a new industrial site, campus and R&D center, INTERSCIENCE wishes to consolidate its ambition of being a world center of excellence for microbiological analysis”, said Emmanuel Jalenques, co-director with his brother, Jules Jalenques, of INTERSCIENCE and INTERLAB. The family company, founded in 1979, currently employs 140 people, including 78 at its historic site in Puycapel, where the company has its roots.

This project will also create around fifty additional jobs in the Cantal region as well as in its subsidiaries in the USA, China, Singapore, Japan and Germany.

Supported by the BPI, French Public Bank and the French Government Recovery Plan, this new investment is estimated at a total of around $6.8 million. It will enable the extension of the factory, the expansion of the R&D center and the creation of an industrial campus: construction of several buildings with a total additional surface area of 32,000 sf. This expansion will quadruple the production capacity dedicated to the production of ScanStation - the real-time colony detection, counting and incubation station.

Since the launch of ScanStation, the company has equipped more than 100 sites with one of the three available versions spread across 23 countries worldwide.

“There is indeed a strong demand, especially from pharmaceutical groups, who either have expansion projects or new manufacturing sites. These investments propel them into the future through strategic choices such as ScanStation. The incubator robot, ScanStation, carries out microbiological analyses in real time 24/7 and meets this demand for performance, digitalization and quality. This is why we are doubling our sales every year. The new production buildings will allow us to grow with ease.” explains Jules Jalenques.

By creating a campus-like site with increased work surfaces, the improved working conditions will make the site more attractive, especially for young recruits. Attention will be paid to the ecological footprint of the ecological footprint of the project, as well as its integration into the local environment: solar panels wood buildings and landscaped areas. Work has just begun in March 2022.
