Diamidex shortens the time-to-decision without abandoning culture methods, while reducing technician workload and the need for highly qualified personnel. Laboratories can maintain their membrane-filtration workflows and media; MICA® detects targeted culturable microorganisms earlier-at the micro-colony stage-and automatically counts them in Colony Forming Units (CFU). The result: same scientific rigor, achieved faster; no reliance on highly skilled personnel and a significant reduction in labor time.

How it works - in practice

After filtration, the membrane is placed on an agar plate and incubated to allow microbial growth. Once incubation is complete, the membrane is removed from the plate and positioned in our MicroColony Counter Automatic (MICA). MICA then automatically counts the target cultivable microorganisms without the need for further confirmation.

This is made possible through the generation of ultra-high-definition images of the membrane, a proprietary machine learning algorithm, and patented dedicated probes that specifically label the microbes of interest.

With a capacity of up to 500 analyses every 8 hours, MICA solutions significantly reduce both the time required to obtain results and the potential for human error, thanks to fully automated enumeration. Additionally, MICA eliminates the need for highly skilled personnel and reduces labor-time.

Using a single device named MICA Advance, you will be allowed to perform :
  • Legionella pneumophila in 48 h, using a single GVPC plate per sample.
  • Escherichia coli in 6 h, using a CCA plate per sample.
  • Total coliforms in 10 h, using a CCA plate per sample (target: December 2025).
  • Pseudomonas aeruginosa in 24 h, using a CN plate per sample (target: Q3 2026).

With a single device, you will be able to perform up to 500 analysis per day including L. pneumophila, E. coli, Total Coliform and P. aeruginosa

Using a device named MICA Highlight, you will be allowed to perform:
  • Bioburden (TVC) Water from 24h with your classical agar plate (R2A, PCA, TSA...).
Operational impact

With MICA, water microbiological laboratories will not only save money by responding earlier to microbiological contamination but also significantly reduce costs related to technicians' time and additional expenses such as heating and storage.

In short: MICA® makes culturable microbes visible earlier-so water labs and operators act faster. Roadmap additions (total coliforms, P. aeruginosa) extend the same approach across more of your routine panel.
