OraSure Expands with Pioneering Microbiome Companies 


OraSure Technologies has now acquired microbiome trailblazers Diversigen, adding to its growing community of microbiome companies. OraSure specializes in point of care rapid diagnostic tests and also purchased CoreBiome at the beginning of the year. Both Diversigen and CoreBiome are microbiome sequencing and analysis pioneers.

Diversigen was the first company to establish microbiome protocols in accordance with College of American Pathologists (CAP) accreditation and Clinical Laboratory Improvements Amendments of 1988 (CLIA) guidelines. Diversigen also has a strong record of supporting microbiome-focused clinical trials for big pharma customers.  With 90% of their business coming from big pharma.

The teaming up of Diversigen, Corebiome, and also DNA Genotek, the biological sampling kit suppliers, builds on the services OraSure can now provide to clients. OraSure will pay $12 million for Diversigen with add-ons agreed if performance figures for the remainder of the year show promise.
