Observation Deck Allows Viewing of Laboratory Testing Process
Northland Laboratories has completed the construction and relocations to its Mount Prospect, Illinois location. The new 33,000 square foot facility housing microbiology, analytical chemistry, laboratory research, training, consulting and sensory space was constructed to offer the long-term future capacity of laboratory testing and research and integrate new automation equipment used for scalability of testing. The facility also includes several training rooms and a unique observation deck to view the laboratory testing process without having to set foot in the laboratory.
“The laboratory testing facility brings the latest in laboratory design and layout, capitalizing on building efficiencies, controlling and containing the flow of the sample lifecycle, and has comprehensive environmental controls incorporated into the facility design with a focus on accuracy of testing,” states D.J. Alwattar, President of Northland Laboratories and Chief Marketing and Sales Offices of Matrix Sciences.
This completes the second expansion of Northland Laboratories facilities in the past two years. Last year in 2016, Northland expanded its Green Bay, Wisconsin with a major addition to the testing facility. “We’re excited about the continued growth and success of our laboratory testing business,” adds Alwattar.
“This investment shows our long-term commitment to our customers and the food industry.”, said Robert Wiebe, CEO of Matrix Sciences. “The capacity and capability of this state-of-the-art facility support our continued growth in the Chicagoland area and are critical to our expansion. This is the first of many planned investments as we increase our scope of services and geographic reach.”
