Microbubbles Replace Magnetic Cell Separation

Akadeum Life Sciences have introduced their first suite of products based on its microbubble technology. Unlike magnetic-based products, microbubbles use buoyancy to gently separate cells of interest within the tube—they simply float to the surface. Feedback from customers who participated in an early access program has been very encouraging and has led to some early sales of the products.

“Our microbubble-based products are the next generation in cell isolation,” said Akadeum CEO Brandon McNaughton. “As there are no magnets or columns that generate magnetic fields, you achieve the gentlest of separations with reliable yields and high purity. Customers also save money by eliminating the need to purchase magnets and columns.”
