Ensuring a Safe Environment for Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators

Wastewater treatment plants produce large amounts of aerosol that can also be deposited on the surfaces of the site.

The staff present in such premises may be exposed to viruses, present in aerosols in the process of their work activities, and can be infected, resulting in work-related symptoms and respiratory and gastrointestinal diseases.

Aerosol testing in wastewater treatment plants is therefore necessary at regular intervals.

A new system for this monitoring is the virus portable air sampler “AIRBIO.ONE RAPID-VIRUS.” At the end of the sampling in the field, subsequent analytical tests like PCR will indicate if the environment is safe for staff.
