Enhanced Beverage QC Testing with a Rapid ATP Method from Promicol

The beverage market encompasses a wide and diverse range of product types - dairy, soya and cereal-based drinks, fruit and vegetable juices, smoothies, flavoured teas, sparkling and non-sparkling soft drinks, and, of course, alcoholic beverages such as beer and wine. Due to this diversity, determining the level of microbial contamination as part of the quality control procedure can be challenging.

The Promicol Microbial ATP Detection system provides a rapid and reliable method for detecting microbial contamination in all these products allowing manufacturers to routinely release finished products faster.

Results are available after a short pre-incubation time, necessary to enrich any spoilage microorganisms in the product, with analysis of the sample only taking minutes.

While manufacturers may need to wait several days for the results of traditional microbiology, the Promicol system provides results that allow the decision on product release to be taken much earlier. In this way, 'time-to-market' is significantly reduced, which creates healthy cost benefits for the manufacturer, as well as improved supply of product to their customers.

Promicol Microbial ATP Detection kits are specially developed to deal with different microbial environments (low pH, high pulp, colour, alcohol content) in a wide range of product types to ensure the highest sensitivity of the method.

With standard applications available for a variety of beverages, Promicol also works directly with our customers to develop rapid, specialized solutions for microbial testing by providing a Custom Fitting capability. This unique approach brings significant added value to our customers by creating tailored test kits that ensure reliability in determining low levels of microbial contamination in their finished products.

Where the 'one size fits all' solution will not suffice, then the development of custom-made assays is imperative.

The testing procedures are simple and very easy to use. The Promicol system can process and analyze the data for up to 96 samples per run in minutes, offering significant reductions in labor costs and time. Promicol instrumentation available provides the perfect solution for customers with low, medium or high sample throughput.
