The Event
On 24 and 25 March 2026, PharmaCongress will once again take place in Wiesbaden, bringing together experts from across the pharmaceutical industry. The event has established itself as one of Europe’s leading forums for GMP compliance, pharmaceutical technology and quality assurance.
The 2026 programme features eight parallel conferences, complemented by the PharmaTechnica Expo, an extensive technology exhibition with live demonstrations. A key highlight will be the presentation of the Prof. Wallhäußer Innovation Award 2026, recognising outstanding innovations in pharmaceutical technology and GMP.
Special Focus Microbiology
A special focus will be the 20th anniversary edition of the European Microbiology Conference organised by the ECA Pharmaceutical Microbiology Group. Members of Pharmacopoeia expert groups from the USA, Europe and beyond, GMP Inspectors as well as industrial experts from around the world, will discuss current developments in pharmacopoeias, regulatory expectations and modern microbiological methods, including alternative testing approaches, validation strategies and advanced topics such as phage therapies and microbiological monitoring.
Further Conference Tracks to Choose
In addition, participants can choose from seven further specialised conference tracks to design an individual programme. The ATMPs Conference will address regulatory requirements, quality control and manufacturing challenges related to advanced therapy medicinal products, including scale-up and sterile production.
The European Aseptic Technologies & Annex 1 Conference will focus on the practical implementation of EU Annex 1, with case studies on contamination control strategies in open and closed systems. Further tracks will explore trends in barrier systems, robotics and automation, GMP-compliant cleanroom and facility design, and regulatory and technical aspects of prefilled syringes. Another dedicated conference will focus on GMP requirements for ready-to-use (RTU) and ready-to-sterilise (RTS) materials, including validation, supplier qualification and Annex 1 implications.
Finally, digitalisation will be addressed in the Digital Transformation & Artificial Intelligence Conference, highlighting the potential of AI, IoT and Industry 4.0 in pharmaceutical manufacturing and quality systems, supported by initial project experiences.
PharmaTechnica Expo
Parallel to the congress, PharmaTechnica Expo will present innovative technologies for GMP-compliant production and quality assurance, as well as a large number of microbiological exhibitors. Products, systems and services will be presented at around 120 exhibition stands and in live demonstrations. It is also the ideal forum for the presentation of the Prof. Wallhäußer Prize 2026, which honours innovations in GMP and pharmaceutical technology.
