Creative Diagnostics Offers Recombinant Antigens for Influenza Vaccine Strains

Influenza viruses are divided into four main types (Influenza A, Influenza B, Influenza C, Influenza D), and seasonal influenza epidemics are caused by influenza A or B viruses. A global pandemic of influenza occurred and caused tens of millions of deaths. Each of these pandemics was caused by the emergence of new strains of humans, such as A/California/04/09 (H1N1) and A/Hong Kong/1 /1968 (H3N2).

Annual vaccination is the main and most effective way to prevent influenza and influenza-related complications, especially for high-risk groups.

Vaccination can reduce illness and lessen the severity of infection. Influenza viruses however are constantly changing, so vaccine ingredients are reviewed every year and updated as needed based on which influenza viruses make people sick, the degree of transmission of these viruses, and the protection of these viruses by the previous season’s vaccine.

In recent decades, vaccines against influenza have been trivalent or quadrivalent and can provide vaccines against H1N1 strains, H3N2 strains, and one or two IBV strains corresponding to two IBV lineages (Yamagata and Victoria type).

Creative Diagnostics now offers recombinant antigens for influenza vaccine strains. The product line covers Hemagglutinin (HA), Neuraminidase (NA), and Nucleoprotein (NP) proteins, from all WHO-recommended vaccine strains in 2015-2022. The reagents can be used to analyze immune responses against vaccine antigens.
