chromID® Salmonella Elite, Earlier Detection for Stool Samples

bioMérieux has launched chromID® Salmonella Elite, a new selective chromogenic culture medium for the isolation and rapid identification of Salmonella in stool samples. ChromID® Salmonella Elite is CE marked and is commercially available in countries that recognize CE marking as well as in the U.S.

chromID® Salmonella Elite provides a higher sensitivity for Salmonella detection directly from a fecal sample, compared to other chromogenic media available on the market 1. It makes reading of the culture easier and gives results after only 18-24 hours of incubation 1. . This new culture medium reinforces bioMérieux’s chromID® range which covers more than 20 products for microorganism detection.

Key Benefits include:

  • earlier growth and recovery of Salmonella even for strains with weak enzymatic activity or those that are lactose-positive
  • higher selectivity against some Gram-negative bacteria such as E. coli
  • decreases false positive results due to the growth of characteristically different colored strains not belonging to Salmonella
  • the final identification of the species may be performed directly from a colony picked on chromID® Salmonella ELITE
