DuPont Nutrition & Health BAX® System Certified by Government For Use In Russia

BAX Food Pathogen Detection System
DuPont Nutrition & Health have announced that the BAX® system, an innovative, rapid method for microbiological testing in food, has been approved by ROSPOTEBNADZOR for use in Russia.

The DNA-based BAX® system uses the power of PCR to accurately and automatically determine the presence of pathogens and other microorganisms in food and environmental samples. High speed and automated ease of use combine with exceptional performance for prompt and accurate results.
The BAX® system was validated at the Institute of Nutrition, Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, Central Research Institute of Epidemiology, ROSPOTEBNADZOR (Russian Federal Consumer Rights Protection and Human Health Control Service), Federal State Institution of Science and the Moscow State University of Applied Biotechnology. Following the results of the ROSPOTEBNADZOR certification, guidelines were approved and put into effect so that the BAX® system can now be used by the Russian food industry, including food quality control laboratories and veterinary laboratories.

'The developing Russian food industry needs modern diagnostic systems that provide for prompt food and ingredients quality control,' said Doris Engesser-Sudlow, DuPont Nutrition & Health business director in Europe. 'Our goal is to help producers increase their operation's efficiency and profitability. Obtaining the ROSPOTEBNADZOR certification provides official recognition of the BAX® system and establishes its reputation in the Russian market.'
'In evaluations of rapid methods applied in laboratory practice, the BAX® system emerged as the most advanced in terms of quality, efficiency, accuracy, reliability and ease of use,' said Gennady Semenov, Doctor of Engineering Science, Pro-rector of Moscow State University of Applied Biotechnologies, who attended the press conference. 'Extensive use of this system will allow prompt control of the source of infection at the stock culture level, and therefore will significantly increase the level of foodstuff quality control at various production stages. Additionally, we are confident that the BAX® system complies with the strict requirements set forth for quality control labs by the National System of Chemical and Biological Safety of the RF in 2009-2013.'

Food processing companies around the world rely on the BAX® system to detect pathogens or other organisms in raw ingredients, finished products and environmental samples. The automated system uses leading-edge technology, including PCR assays, tableted reagents and optimized media, to detect Salmonella, Listeria, Listeria monocytogenes, E. coli O157:H7, Enterobacter sakazakii, Campylobacter, Staphylococcus aureus , yeast and mold. With certifications and regulatory approvals in the Americas, Asia and Europe, the BAX® system is recognized globally as the most advanced pathogen testing system available to food companies.
