Approvals: AOAC RI, NordVal, NF Validation by AFNOR Certification
Suitability: Low or high throughput food pathogen testing laboratories
Capital equipment required: None
RAPID'Salmonella Medium is a sensitive chromogenic agar used for the detection and enumeration of Salmonella spp. in foods. A short one broth, one plate protocol delivers Salmonella sample to results in less than 42 hours or can be used as second selective medium for ISO 6579 reference method
Salmonella is C8 esterase positive and appear as magenta colonies whilst the presence of β-D glucosidase makes other Enterobacteriaceae appear blue.
- Sample to result in <42 hours using short protocol
- Approved as second selective media in ISO 6579 protocol
- Low false positives (<0.3% for all matrices)
- Detects both motile and non-motile Salmonella, lactose +ve Salmonella, Salmonella Typhi and Salmonella Paratyphi.
