Efficient Detection of Environmental Clostridium difficile Within 24 Hrs
Hardy Diagnostics’ new C Diff Banana Broth is recommended as a selective detection broth for the recovery of Clostridium difficile from environmental samples.
The product is named C Diff Banana Broth because of the color change reaction when C. difficile is present. The broth changes from a deep red indicating a negative reaction to a milky yellow indicating a positive reaction.
By offering speed and specificity of detection, C Diff Banana Broth is ideal for verifying the efficacy of the hospital infection control cleaning procedures.
The formulation’s specificity was found to be 100 percent with a sensitivity of 88 percent1. This selective and differential medium is suitable for recovering both Clostridium difficile spores and vegetative cells. A result in as little as 24 hours means a faster turnaround resulting in better infection control and patient care.
Banana Broth needs no pre-reduction or special anaerobic equipment. With faster results and easy-to-read color change results, Banana Broth is now a necessity in every hospital’s environmental monitoring program.
