The presence of Enterococci is considered one of the key fecal indicators of water since these bacteria are found in the intestinal microbiota of both healthy people and some animals.

Although the vast majority of species are harmless, some others are considered opportunistic pathogens, and unfortunately, this includes emerging strains that are resistant to antibiotics, specifically vancomycin.

Also, these bacteria are resistant in hostile conditions such as low temperatures and high salinity concentrations, so their persistence in the environment can become a problem for recreational water users.

Due to its environmental importance, there are standardized methods for the detection of Enterococci in water samples.

Join us in our Condalab talk to learn from our Product Managers all the details of the ISO method to easily implement your protocol.

We will also talk about alternative techniques for both clinical and environmental samples, don't miss it!
