Following the recent acquisition of the prepared media and diagnostics business of Medvet Science Pty Ltd, Thermo Scientific Limited is pleased to announce the expansion of the Thermo Scientific range of Diagnostic Reagents to include three new tests for Salmonella spp, Listeria spp and Clostridium difficile.

These rapid and easy-to-use latex agglutination tests can be performed from selective culture, providing clearly visible results in less than 30 seconds for Salmonella and Listeria and within 2 minutes for C. difficile.

The early presumptive identification provided by these kits enables negative samples to be eliminated rapidly. This allows further testing and empirical treatment to be more targeted. Furthermore, no special training or equipment is required to perform the tests or interpret the results, which make Thermo Scientific Diagnostic Reagents an easy addition to any laboratory.

Suspect colonies are simply mixed with latex reagent on a reaction slide.The latex particles, which have been coated with specific antibodies, will visibly agglutinate in the presence of the target organism, thus indicating a positive result. In the absence of target organism the latex particles remain in smooth suspension.

These new additions to the Thermo Scientific range further enhance the extensive collection of diagnostic products available from Thermo Scientific.
