UV Sterilisation Cabinets Provide a 'Mini Cleanroom' Facility

Where laboratories require a compact, yet safe, nucleic acid-free environment which provides an easily accessible area for setting-up PCR, uvCAB UV Sterilisation Cabinets from Cleaver Scientific(CSL) are an ideal solution, particularly when space is at a premium.

Similar to having a 'mini-cleanroom' in your laboratory, CSL UV Sterilisation cabinets minimise the potential for PCR reaction contamination. They include powerful UV lights which serve to denature nucleic acids in 5 to 30 minutes making them suitable for decontamination of equipment used for setting up PCR reactions. The lights are timer controlled and there are safety switches on the cabinet doors which automatically turn-off the UV lights when opened preventing user exposure to UV light.

The cabinets also act as an efficient shield against beta radioactive emissions and can therefore be safely used with isotopes, such as 32P. The cabinets also include a white light which provides excellent visibility when working inside the cabinet.

uvCAB cabinets are available in two sizes. The Maxi version offers a large working space measuring 660 x 560 x 420mm (H x W x D) and offers a good sized cabinet for setting-up and also storage of PCR reactions along with the pipettes, racks and other equipment. For laboratories where space and budgets are particularly limited, the Mini Cabinet is ideal. It measures just 400 x 560 x 350mm (H x W x D).

Accessories such as DNA and RNA removing solutions and compatible safety trays with disposable liners for use with both sizes of cabinets are also available.
