New Bunsen Burner for Safer Laboratories

INTEGRA Biosciences has announced a new version of their popular FIREBOY plus - a versatile mobile Bunsen burner incorporating a unique triple safety system.

Restyled in a durable UV-resistant housing the new FIREBOY plus is intrinsically much safer than traditional Bunsen burners having advanced temperature protection, flame monitor and alarm display features to protect the operator and operating environment. For safety conscious laboratories it is the system of choice for sterilisation and sample heating applications.

The gas ignition is both rapid and safe, with the FIREBOY plus no lighter or matches are required. The system has an infrared sensor that provides non-touch ignition of the gas supply when an object passes slowly through the sensor window at a distance of 6 to 8 centimetres. The FIREBOY plus can also be controlled by a foot activated switch that will automatically turn-off five minutes after the last activation. Consequently the FIREBOY plus, unlike traditional bunsen burners, minimises the consumption of oxygen and operating environment heat build-up making the laboratory a more pleasant place to work in.

Easy-to-use the 'hands-free' FIREBOY plus has no interfering cables or tubes. Operating from a gas cartridge and powered from a battery it can be used without mains power or access to a plumbed-in gas supply. Measuring only 70 x 90 x 180 mm the compact FIREBOY plus comes supplied with three nozzles providing optimal operation with propane / butane, natural gas or town gas.
