Automated Etest Code Recognition with BIOMIC V3 Microbiology System
go back to news archives The BIOMIC V3 Microbiology System now includes automated Etest® (bioMerieux) code recognition in addition to automated Etest MIC reading and S-I-R interpretation. Code recognition prevents user entry error by confirming Etests are correctly placed and positioned on the plate. A green highlight indicates a correct code match and a red highlight indicates an incorrect code match displayed on a 21 inch touch screen monitor. BIOMIC V3 reads 90-150mm plates and can include Etests only or a combination of Etests and antibiotic disks. High resolution plate images are saved for future review. BIOMIC V3's digital imaging technology automates the reading, interpretation, and reporting of CLSI, EUCAST, and BSAC antibiotic disk diffusion tests, Etests, 96-well microtiter plates, and commercial identification panels including API® (bioMerieux), RapID™ (Remel), BBL™ Crystal™ (BD) and chromogenic agar plates. The addition of a bar code reader coupled with bi-directional LIS/LIMS interface capability further speeds workflow. BIOMIC V3 serves as a primary or secondary AST-ID system for microbiology laboratories of all sizes and setups. |
