Thermo Scientific Sensititre System Expands Antimicrobial Offering
go back to news archives | The Thermo Scientific Sensititre® System is now the first to offer Ceftaroline on IVD-labeled microbroth dilution susceptibility plates. The FDA has cleared Sensititre MIC plates for testing Ceftaroline against both Gram positive and Gram negative fastidious and non-fastidious organisms. Ceftaroline has been added to the latest Sensititre Gram positive standard plate launching in early 2013. |
The Sensititre System allows laboratorians to create their own custom MIC plates, based on their formulary, dilution ranges and patient population. With the addition of Ceftaroline, the Sensititre System continues to lead the industry by offering the most FDA-cleared antimicrobials, in the broadest range of dilutions, allowing laboratories to tailor their test program to their unique needs, while complying with FDA, EUCAST and CLSI standards. Ceftaroline (Teflaro®, Forest Laboratories) is a broad-spectrum cephalosporin used to treat acute bacterial skin and skin structure infections (ABSSSIs) and community-acquired pneumonia (CAP), as well as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and multi-drug resistant Streptococcus pneumoniae. Confronting the growing problem of antimicrobial resistance, the Sensititre System utilizes true MIC results, essential to fighting antimicrobial resistance, and providing greater sensitivity for better resistance tracking. True MICs are also the best measure of antibacterial effect, which can assist with therapeutic choices, and promote overall better patient care. |
