Genekam Biotechnology have introduced a PCR test for Avian Flu that detects the H5N1 and H5 virus. The test result is available within seven hours and the PCR technique has many advantages over serological tests as it can be used to detect latent and symptomless infections in both humans and animals.

Genekam Biotechnology develop and market about 120 PCR assays and are currently researching a test for the H7 virus.
