Understanding Isokinetic Sampling - Why it Matters

The EU GMP Annex 1 emphasizes the need for isokinetic sampling for total particles.

But what happens if measurements are not performed isokinetically?

! In the case of hypokinetic sampling, the flow rate of the sampler is slower than the external air supplied.

! A faster sampling flow rate compared to the external flow leads to hyperkinetic sampling.

Both scenarios disturb the unidirectional airflow pattern and lead to under- or oversampling of microbe-carrying particles.

MAS-100 microbial air samplers – in combination with our precisely manufactured perforated lids – respect the isokinetic principle and allow for an ideal physical and biological sampling efficiency.

Gain a clearer understanding of the importance of isokinetic sampling in environmental monitoring and learn about our solutions.
