Xpress System Gets AOAC-PTM for 'Big 6' STEC

Crystal Diagnostics' Xpress System has been awarded AOAC-PTM Certifications for the six non-O157 Shiga toxin-producing E. coli  (serogroups O26, O45, O1O3, O111, O121, and O145; collectively referred to as STEC or the 'Big-6') as well as E. coli  O157, able to detect 1 cfu per 325g of raw ground beef and raw beef trim, or 200g of raw spinach.

The CDx Xpress System combines proprietary liquid crystal technology with antibody-coated paramagnetic microspheres to selectively capture and detect STEC from food matrixes, faster than other commercial systems. Want to see how it works - visit www.crystaldiagnostics.com/technology/works/

More protocols and kits are being developed to run on the Xpress system with Listeria, Salmonella spp., and strain specific Salmonella in progress with expectations of an AOAC certified 12-hour Salmonella test by mid-2015, and Listeria shortly thereafter.
