SY-LAB RiboFlow® Listeria Twin Receives Microval Validation


After completion of the Microval validation study according to the new and very stringent ISO 16140-2 standard RiboFlow® Listeria Twin was certified for the detection of Listeria monocytogenes in raw milk and dairy products, heat processed milk and dairy products, read-to-eat, ready-to-reheat meat products and ready-to-eat, ready-to-reheat fishery products.

The RiboFlow® Listeria Twin Detection Kit was developed to enable highly specific yet very simple detection of Listeria monocytogenes and other Listeria species within just a few minutes, with little effort and equipment.

A ribosomal RNA sequence specific for Listeria monocytogenes and a second rRNA sequence specific for all Listeria species are detected simultaneously by a proprietary nucleic acid hybridisation protocol in a simple lateral flow assay format within 30 minutes, using a crude cell extract from an enriched culture or a single colony.  Tedious nucleic acid purification or enzymatic amplification of target sequence is not necessary.

Using that approach a dual result from one test run can be obtained.  Beside the information about absence of Listeria monocytogenes the test gives also an indication about presence or absence of Listeria. spp.  Every device has an inbuilt reaction control indicating the validity of any individual test run.

Testkits will come along in a convenient box with a very small footprint containing all reagents ready to use.  The kits have a long shelflife of at least 3 years from manufacture and can be stored at ambient temperature.  The devices can also be used to confirm single suspicious colonies from any selective or non-selective agar plate and could be an additional tool for rapid molecular confirmation.
