Latest Updates on COVID-19 Testing - Kits, Products, Services, Instrumentation - 2 Feb 2021

The UK and South Africa variant strains of SARS-CoV-2 are a significant concern to many national health authorities. The variants are suspected of being more infectious and have shown increased transmissibility, particularly the UK variant as it spreads quickly across the European continent. The variants have highlighted the need to design test kits that have two different targets, as single target tests have been known to show false-negatives. Synthetic molecular constructs for assay development are now available, as well as newly certified test kits to detect the new strains.

Detect SARS-CoV-2 UK Variant on Same Run As Normal COVID-19 qPCR Test

Detect SARS-CoV-2 UK Variant on Same Run As Normal COVID-19 qPCR Test

Genetic PCR Solutions™ has developed a qPCR reagent kit for the specific genetic detection of the new B.1.1.7 strain described and recently published in the UK. This qPCR can be used on the same patient sample and assayed simultaneously with the usual qPCR test.
