This week was again dominated by COVID-19 and SARS-CoV-2 - remember SARS-CoV-2 is the name of the virus and COVID-19 is the name of the disease it causes. SARS-CoV-2 stands for Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Corona Virus 2 and COVID-19 stands for Coronavirus Disease 2019. The European IAFP meeting has been cancelled and ECCMID is mostly probably not going ahead - we're waiting on confirmation on that one. Then the other big news for the industry was Thermo Fisher are buying Qiagen, this will take Thermo from being a large to a huge player in the PCR market.
