Microbiologics Unveils New Lab-Elite™ Certified Reference Material

Lab-Elite
Microbiologics has unveiled the newest brand in their growing line of products, Lab-Elite™ Certified Reference Material.

Lab-Elite™ Certified Reference Material (CRM) is a third party re-authenticated microorganism preparation that comes standard with highly valued test reports detailing the Phenotypic and Genotypic characteristics as well as DNA fingerprinting. Microbiologics became officially recognized as a Reference Material producer in 2009, when the company achieved ISO Guide 34:2000 Accreditation.
Lab-Elite Certified Reference Material is a pure, homogeneous and stable lyophilized microorganism preparation that has been highly characterized using a polyphasic approach. It's the only product of its kind in the market that includes Phenotypic, Genotypic and DNA fingerprinting (Pulsed - Field Gel Electrophoresis (PFGE) Subtyping) reports.

Lab-Elite Certified Reference Material microorganisms are sourced from the American Type Culture Collection (ATCC®) and are 100% traceable. In 2005, Microbiologics was the first company to receive a license from ATCC® to commercially manufacture and distribute ATCC Licensed Derivative® products.

A comprehensive Certificate of Analysis, Sample Analysis Report and PFGE Sub-typing Report are all included in the Lab-Elite package. The Certificate of Analysis lists microscopic, macroscopic and phenotypic features as well as the authentic reference culture number. The Sample Analysis Report contains a microscopic picture and ribosomal RNA (rRNA gene) sequencing of the microorganism cells. The PFGE Report details the microorganism's DNA fingerprinting (genetic Subtyping) results.

Microbiologics President, Brad Goskowicz comments, 'What's unique about Lab-Elite is the testing. We re-authenticate each Lab-Elite microorganism using a third-party and we provide the resulting reports with the product. These reports contain a great deal of valuable data that confirms the identity of the microorganism strain. Until now, many laboratories have not had access to this degree of detailed information for control microorganisms.'

Goskowicz continues, 'Variability is always a concern when it comes to biological materials. With our ISO Guide 34 Accredited process, we know the strain is what we say it is - and the reports we include with each Lab-Elite microorganism document that fact. With Lab-Elite, customers get the best of both worlds: convenience with confidence.' Packaged in an easy-to-use, self-contained device which includes a lyophilized microorganism pellet, reservoir of hydrating fluid and inoculating swab, the Lab-Elite device is identical to the KWIK-STIK, which is the most popular product line from Microbiologics.

Lab-Elite can be used for a number of applications including Quality Control of Research, validation of new methods or instruments and applications that require a standard with known genetic properties. It can also be used in ISO 17025 accredited laboratories and USP regulated laboratories.
