Microbiology specialist Lab M and Forr Labs, the company's distributor for Hungary, recently co-hosted a highly successful microbiology workshop held in Budapest. The workshop, which took place on 11 September 2008, is part of an initiative to forge closer bonds between the needs of the customer and the resource and capability of Lab M. As a result of the event, Lab M was able to connect and exchange ideas with more than 40 representatives from Budapest laboratories.

“Delegates were given an inside look into how a commercial company researches and develops new products in line with customer needs and wants,” said Colin LeGood, Lab M's Export Sales Manager. “In exchange, we received valuable feedback on cost, time and labour saving benefits of our products, and further insight into potential new product requirements.”

Topics of discussion included the benefits of working with ISO standardised materials and 'novel' media such as Lab M's Harlequin™ range. Chromogenic media are amongst the most significant advances in microbiological culture in recent years. They provide a rapid, accurate means of isolating and enumerating target micro-organisms based on the detection of specific enzyme activities.

The workshop's success will lead to further, similar events. “Probable next stop… Istanbul!”
