Filtration and Culturing in One Single-Use Unit
Monitoring contaminates in liquid samples, from raw materials to finished product in microbiological laboratories can be a time consuming, tedious process. Thanks to a new range of Microbiological Monitors from SCHLEICHER & SCHUELL, the process can be significantly speeded-up. These single-use monitors are designed as pre-sterilized filtering and culturing devices in one unit, and eliminate the time consuming steps associated with traditional methods of monitoring contaminates. For example, placing membranes in holders, transferring the membrane to a Petri dish and the various washing processes. After the filtration is complete, 2ml of microbiological media is added and the units are conveniently converted into a Petri dish for culturing the contaminates collected. The monitors are available in 47mm and 56mm diameters for preferred filtration and viewing area. They can be supplied in 0.45µm or 0.8µm pore sizes with either black or white membrane for optical colour contrast. The use of a black membrane enhances the identification of opaque, translucent or white coloured colonies. A wide range of ampouled media is available for use with the monitors ensuring optimum convenience and flexibility in your testing. Typical applications include raw materials to finished product sampling for beverages, foods, water and pharmaceuticals |
