Management of Mycoplasmas - A Seminar on Prevention, Control and Detection
 | Registration is now open for this one day seminar on the 'Prevention, Control and Detection of Mollicutes in Pharmaceutical Processes,' 15 May 2008, Eastwood Hall, Nottingham, that is hosted by Oxoid, Millipore and Mycoplasma Experience. Chaired by Robin Nicholas, Leader of the Mycoplasma Group, at the Veterinary Laboratories Agency (Weybridge, UK), the seminar provides vital insights and current thinking on mycoplasmas, best practice in detection and filtration, aspects applicable to media fill trials, and the impact of regulation on testing.

Chair and Speakers' Biographies: Robin Nicholas, Leader of the Mycoplasma Group, at the Veterinary Laboratories Agency (Weybridge).Robin is a member of the FAO and EU groups of experts on contagious bovine pleuropneumoniae. He has been a member of the Mycoplasma Expert Group for the European Pharmacopoeia since 2000 and was appointed Mycoplasma Advisor to the EU expert on the VICH Expert Working Group on biologicals in 2006. Sandra Jainandunsing, Manager Method Development & Validation, MicroSafe. Sandra has set up the new molecular biology unit within Millipore's MicroSafe Services. One of the first assays to be validated and transferred to routine operation was Nucleic Acid Technology (NAT) testing for mollicutes according to the EP. Future NAT projects are: quantitation of mollicutes, residual DNA and DNA fingerprinting. Joachim Regel is European Technology Manager for Aseptic Processing covering the European market for Millipore, based in Molsheim (France). He has 15 years experience in filtration & separation technologies, 10 years of this in the pharmaceutical industry. He has been involved in many pharmaceutical projects including consultation for aspects of design, implementation and validation of sterilizing filtration systems in aseptic processing.
