Oxoid will be demonstrating the RiboPrinter® microbial identification and characterisation system during a half day workshop at the Rapid Methods in Microbiology conference to be held in Amsterdam on the 11th November 2004. This conference is organised by the Institute of Validation Technology (IVT) and is part of the Microbiology Event of the Year conference, Amsterdam, 8 - 11 November 2004.

The four-day conference will provide visitors from the pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device and cosmetic industries with a series of interactive workshops including updates on the European and US Pharmacopoeias, validation of microbiological test methods, and microbial identification and characterization.
The instrument will be demonstrated so that visitors can see how easy it is to prepare samples, load reagents, and interpret results.

On Thursday 11 November Laura Ward, Oxoid Ltd, will be hosting a workshop entitled "Utilising DNA Fingerprinting to Identify, Characterise, and Track Bacterial Contamination in Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Environments".

The workshop will explore the benefits of a fully automated identification and characterisation system and will show how to utilise the RiboPrinter® system's strain level information for pharmaceutical applications. Workshop attendees will learn how to utilise the RiboPrinter® system for routine
identifications, microbial mapping, root cause analysis and Out Of Specification (OOS) investigations.

Pamela Connolly from Wyeth Biopharma will discuss in detail her experience of the RiboPrinter® system validation process. She will also show case studies which demonstrate how sample pattern histories and source information have identified and supported microbiological investigations.
