BBL™ CHROMagar™ Salmonella Medium Receives AOAC-RI Approval

New! BBL™ CHROMagar™ Salmonella
Now AOAC™-RI Approved!

For the Rapid Detection of Salmonella spp. in Food

BBL™ CHROMagar™ Salmonella is the first in the BBL CHROMagar Family to receive AOAC™-RI Certification!

BBL™ CHROMagar™ Salmonella

BBL CHROMagar Salmonella is a selective and differential medium for the isolation and presumptive identification of Salmonella species from a variety of food products. BBL CHROMagar Salmonella has been validated by the AOAC Research Institute (AOAC™-RI) under the Performance Tested [SM] Methods Program, Certification No. 020502.

As a single plate methodology under the AOAC-RI Performance Tested Methods Program:

  • 100% correlation to official methods (USDA, FDA and ISO)[ref 1-3]
  • Presumptive identification of Salmonella species
  • 50% reduction in plated media costs versus official methods
  • · Reduction in ancillary biochemical / screening costs

Simplified single plate workflow:

Sample Preparation
& Incubation [ref 1-3]
.
Inoculate BBL
CHROMagar Salmonella
.
Incubate 24-48 h
.
Read Plates
  • Salmonella species produce mauve (rose to purple) colored colonies
  • Presumptive identification of Salmonella species
  • Time to detection as early as 24 hours
  • Final read for negativity at 48 hours

Cost effective:

  • Reduction in number of primary plated media
  • Reduction in unnecessary biochemical tests from suspected colonies
  • Overall reduction in labor, time and expense
