MedCap's Chinese Venture Will Bring Avian Flu Accuscan Test to Market in 2006
MedCap Corp have announced that its Chinese joint venture intends to produce a rapid diagnostic test kit for Avian Flu. Previous attempts to manufacture this test kit have been hampered due to lack of access to the appropriate antigens necessary to produce the test strips.
MedCap's Chinese partners have now acquired the antigens and will be producing rapid diagnostic test strips for Avian Flu, based on Medcap's AccuScan technology. There will be two test kits developed, one for testing birds and one for use on humans.
The initial kit will be for detection of Avian flu in birds and is expected to be on the market in three to four months, the new test kits will use blood, give a result in less than 20 minutes and will be robust enough for use in the field.
