Applied Biosystems and Dupont Qualicon Alliance to Develop Advanced Systems for Food Manufacturers

into New Products for Food Safety and Quality
Applied Biosystems Group (NYSE:ABI), an Applera Corporation business, and DuPont Qualicon, a DuPont Co. (NYSE:DD) business, have announced a strategic marketing and technology alliance to develop next-generation DNA detection tests and systems for food testing, targeted at food safety and quality assessment.
New products will be based on Applied Biosystems’ TaqMan® assay-based Real-Time PCR (polymerase chain reaction) technology. The alliance will enhance and expand the capabilities of the BAX detection system, allowing for enhanced features such as quantitation and strain discrimination, and extend the system to the detection of new organisms.
