Increase the Sensitivity of PCR-based Pathogen Detection by Specific Concentration of Bacterial DNA

Looxster

Increase the Sensitivity of PCR-based Pathogen Detection by Specific Concentration of Bacterial DNA

With the Looxster® product line, SIRS-Lab offers an innovative system for sample preparation of bacterial pathogens from medical research, food and environmental origins.

Looxster® product line is based on the Pureprove® technology, which allows a specific concentration of bacterial DNA and simultaneous depletion of non-bound components.

Looxster® leads to an increased sensitivity of and could be combined with every nucleic-acid based detection method for detection of bacterial pathogens.

Looxster® universal allows the specific concentration of prokaryotic DNA from complex samples. Starting with a total DNA preparation the bacterial DNA is specifically enriched in a few wash and elution steps. Looxster® kit is therefore independent from the microbiological application field.

The following characteristics best describe Looxster® universal:

  • Captures and concentrates bacterial DNA contained in total DNA-preparations, e.g. whole blood, ascites
  • Removes more than 90% of eukaryotic DNA as well as inhibitors of amplification-based methods
  • Increases the sensitivity of specific pathogen detection methods
  • Independent from the sample source
  • Works with most DNA amplification methods
  • Validated on clinical samples
  • Small expenditure of time of less than 45 minutes
