MicroBioLogics, Inc. have launched EZ-Accu Shot™, a quantitative lyophilized microorganism preparation designed for use in the Pharmaceutical Industry. Specifically, EZ-Accu Shot™ is formulated for performing Growth Promotion Tests of microbiological culture media. The Growth Promotion Test is a mandated requirement of the United States (USP,) European (Ph. Eur.) and Japanese (JP) Pharmacopeias.

The purpose of the Growth Promotion Test is to determine the suitability of culture media used in pharmaceutical tests. The medium is challenged with a small number of microorganisms to assure the nutritive properties. EZ-Accu Shot™ quick dissolving lyophilized microorganism pellets are formulated to provide an inoculum of less than 100 colony forming units (CFU) to meet Pharmacopeial regulations. EZ-Accu Shot™ is manufactured with microbial strains derived from the American Type Culture Collection (ATCC®).

The EZ-Accu Shot™ kit contains five vials of lyophilized microorganisms, with one microorganism pellet in each vial and five vials of hydration fluid. The pellet dissolves instantly and does not require pre-incubation or serial dilutions, making it one of the most convenient products of its kind on the market. EZ-Accu Shot™ does not require freezing and can be easily stored in refrigerated temperatures thereby eliminating the need for dry ice to transport which reduces shipping costs. Following hydration, EZ-Accu Shot™ can be used for up to eight hours when refrigerated between uses.
