BioVeris Products Used for Security at Olympic Games
BioVeris Corporation announced today that the NATO Response Forces (NRF) in charge of the security operations for the Olympic Games in Athens, Greece purchased BioVeris' detection products to screen for biological agents in potential security alerts during the Games. BioVeris' biological detection products are used to detect bacteria and toxins that may pose a public health threat. The NRF staffed and equipped a field biolab at the Olympic Games using BioVeris' proprietary electrochemiluminescence technology-based M1R Analyzer and related BioVeris test kits for the detection of biological agents, including agents such as anthrax, staphylococcus enterotoxin B, ricin and botulinum toxin, among others. The M1R Analyzer provided the NRF with the capability of rapidly conducting tests for biological agents on air, soil, water and food samples. BioVeris continues to work closely with numerous departments within the U.S. Department of Defense and other U.S. Government agencies, including the FDA, CDC and USDA, using its products as part of various Homeland Security initiatives for the detection of Category A and B biological agents. |
