| EMLab P&K have launched a new analytical services to detect pathogens in food and environmental samples using real-time PCR technology. By using emerging PCR testing techniques, EMLab P&K can now perform rapid analysis of pathogens such as E. coli 0157:H7 and Enterococci. The highly sensitive and specific PCR tests can rapidly detect pathogenic contamination and results can be available in a matter of hours. As EMLab P&K expands its portfolio of client services, new PCR tests for detection of pathogens such as Cryptosporidium, Giardia, Campylobacter, Salmonella, and Clostridium will be added in the near future. Rapid and accurate microbial tests are becoming increasingly important to quickly detect contamination and identify the source of outbreaks. Although traditional culture-based methods remain the gold standard, they have certain limitations and are time-consuming. Some tests can take up to seven days to obtain complete results. Due to time constraints, culture-based methods are not always suitable for analyzing a large number of samples when investigating a possible outbreak. The new PCR analytical services offered by EMLab P&K are affordable and introduce clients to the accuracy, specificity, sensitivity, and throughput - benefits of the real-time PCR technology that can be applied to broad range of samples. When a PCR test is not readily available for the client's pathogen of interest, EMLab P&K can develop rigorous and scientifically sound tests to assist clients in a wide variety of testing needs. 'EMLab P&K has been at the forefront in serving clients by providing PCR testing services to assist in their investigations. These additional real-time PCR tests will help our clients with time-sensitive projects,' said Belinda Vega, EMLab P&K's President. |
