Microgen's Monoclonal-Enhanced Legionella Test

Microscreen Legionella is one of an extensive range of latex agglutination kits manufactured by Microgen Bioproducts Ltd for the confirmation of cultured organisms. L. pneumophila is the cause of Legionnaires Disease and latex agglutination is one of the most commonly employed methods used to confirm of the identity and serotype of L. pneumophila isolated from both clinical and environmental samples.

The Microscreen Legionella 50-test kit uses the tried and trusted latex agglutination technology and has now been improved by the inclusion into the test reagent of a Monoclonal Antibody specific for serogroup 1. This significantly improves the specificity and readability of positive test results. The test may be performed directly from all types of selective agar plate media with no further steps required. This test differentiates between serogroup 1 and serogroups 2-15. The inclusion of serogroup 15 (lancing strain) ensures comprehensive coverage of Legionella spp.

Microgen Bioproducts is one of the worlds most experienced latex kit producers. The company specialises in the development and manufacture of rapid tests for the detection and monitoring of disease and disease-causing organisms.
