ATCC Synthetic Norovirus RNA for Food & Water

Noroviruses are a diverse group of highly contagious single-stranded RNA viruses commonly isolated from humans presenting with symptoms of acute viral gastroenteritis. Infection can be spread from person to person, via consumption of contamintated food and water, or by direct contact with contaminated surfaces. As these viruses cannot be cultured in vitro, RT-qPCR has become the preferred method of Norovirus detection.

To support the unique needs of PCR-based methods of detection, ATCC now offers Synthetic Norovirus G1 (I) and G2 (II) RNA standards (ATCC® VR-3199SD™, VR-3200SD™) for use as positive control reference standards in molecular applications. Each vial contains single stranded RNA genetic material designed and synthetically created for use as a genetic surrogate for live Norovirus.
