World's Largest Turkey Processor to Use Warnex Genevision™ for Salmonella and Listeria Testing

Genevision
Warnex's Genevision™ technology

Warnex Inc. have announced that Carolina Turkeys, one of the world's leading manufacturers of turkey products, based in Mt. Olive, North Carolina, will use Warnex's revolutionary Genevision™ technology to monitor the safety of their products. Under the terms of the 3-year agreement, Carolina Turkeys will use the Genevision™ Rapid Pathogen Detection System to test for Salmonella and Listeria.

"Carolina Turkeys is exactly the type of customer that is best-suited to our technology - a high volume food processing plant that can fully benefit from Genevision's advantages," said Mark Busgang, President and CEO of Warnex. "Most importantly, Genevision will reduce the time required to test for the presence of pathogens, providing Carolina Turkeys with a competitive edge."

The Genevision pathogen detection system uses cutting-edge DNA-based technology to rapidly and accurately determine the presence of pathogens in a given food sample. The system allows for the simultaneous detection of multiple pathogens and processing of samples within 24 to 48 hours, a significant improvement over traditional microbiology tests that currently require 5 to 7 days. The technology also includes software that analyzes the results and allows for immediate reporting throughout the organization of a contamination occurrence.

"Our decision was based on two reasons," said Dr. Martin Bembers, Vice-President Technical Services of Carolina Turkeys. "First, Genevision will make us more efficient, enhancing our competitiveness. Second, and more importantly, it will enhance the safety of our products, which is our highest priority as a food producer."

Carolina Turkeys is the third in a series of customer signings since the beginning of the commercial rollout of the Genevision technology. Other customers include Canadian-based Cardinal Meats Specialist Limited and U.S.-based Plumrose USA Inc.

Genevision offers food producers an innovative detection system that can rapidly and accurately identify Salmonella and Listeria and assure them of the safety of their products.
