Summary:
Pharmaceutical - Seminar

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
  • Discuss the importance of a responsive microbial monitoring program for compendial water systems

  • Explain the various methods of bacteria enumeration and selection of media, incubation time and temperature
  • Compare the various methods for determination of bacterial endotoxin concentration

  • Demonstrate proper sampling procedures and laboratory technique for bacteria and bacterial endotoxin determination

  • Explain the rationale for establishing bacteria alert and action limits as well as monitoring for undesirable pathogens

  • Establish criteria employed for development of a Performance Qualification protocol as well as long term sampling program for bacteria and bacterial endotoxins

  • Identify biofilm formation and the control techniques

  • Assess system monitoring and maintenance requirements to provide a controlled situation

  • Recognize the impact of inadequate microbial control on product quality
