Date: 6th May, 2010
Location: On-Line, USA
Summary:Clinical - Web Seminar
This program will review the origins and the contents of the international standard ISO 15189:2007,
Medical laboratories – Particular requirements for quality and competence, and the reasons that the standard has a significant role to play, even in laboratories that are currently required to follow other locally mandated accreditation requirements. In the areas where the standard is viewed solely as a volunteer application, the presentation will explore the benefits of both application and accreditation and consider when they may not always be the same. Also to be discussed are some of the evolutionary developments that may occur as the document continues to change.
An active work plan for laboratories that are considering adopting the standard will be presented. Based on experience of laboratories that have gone through the process, the plan will address anticipated costs in terms of time and cost, and the benefits likely to be derived.
Objectives: At the conclusion of this program, the participant will be able to
- Describe the contents of the international standard ISO 15189:2007.
- Explain the potential benefits to the medical laboratory that adopts the standard.
- Identify the potential costs to the medical laboratory that adopts the standard.
