Summary:
Clinical - Training
Diagnosing, treating and controlling the spread of TB has become increasingly complicated with the emergence of Multidrug-Resistant (MDR) and Extensively Drug-Resistant (XDR) Tuberculosis (TB).
This program will provide an update for microbiology and mycobacteriology laboratory staff. The prevalence and mechanisms of resistance to first and second-line anti-TB drugs will be briefly discussed. Methods for rapid detection of drug resistance will be presented, including culture-based and molecular methods.
