Conference Objectives
-To introduce the different mechanisms of antibiotic resistance in Gram-positive bacteria
-To update on the epidemiology of nosocomial infections due to multi-drug resistant (MDR) Gram-positive bacteria
-To evaluate conventional methods and new techniques for routine and rapid diagnosis of MDR
-To review the most appropriate methods for susceptibility testing, including screening and automatic techniques
-To present state-of-the art management of MDR infections
-To discuss present and future options in the treatment of multiply resistant Gram-positive bacteria
-To critically review the anti-Gram-positive drug pipeline
-To discuss current criteria for prophylaxis and future measures for preventing MDR infections and limiting their spread
