Magnetic attraction pulls BBI and Quantum Design together

BBInternational (Cardiff, UK) and Quantum Design (San Diego, USA) have entered into a strategic alliance to market a feasibility service incorporating the complimentary technologies of custom particle conjugation and magnetic particle detection technology.

Magnetic Feasibility is a fast, cost-effective way to evaluate the improved sensitivity and quantitation that can be achieved in your assay by using BBI's proprietary conjugations, in combination with QD's Magnetic Assay Reader (MAR) platform. This new magnetic assay feasibility service will be offered by BBI, exclusively for QD's MAR technology. This service is targeted to Point of Care (POC) diagnostic companies requiring the improved performance of magnetic particle assays.

The service includes the particle conjugation, which attaches antibodies to magnetic particles, the production of mini batches of your assays in the form of half dipstick tests, and the test results which will yield a dose-response data set.

The collaboration between BBI and QD draws together BBI's experience in colloidal gold nanoparticles, magnetizable particles, and conjugation chemistry, with the adaptable, sensitive and quantitative features of the MAR technology.

Whatever your application, whether it be POC, environmental or veterinary, the feasibility service will provide an inexpensive proof of principle for the development of your test in magnetic particle format. The service will also reduce R&D time and help eliminate many common lateral flow rapid test problems, before further development is carried out.
